Political Idioms started with a list. Phrases that began somewhere specific — a committee room, a terrace, a back bench — and quietly escaped into everyday English. We put them on clothes worth keeping.
Nothing is made before it is wanted
Every garment is cut and finished after you place the order. It takes seven to ten days instead of next-day, and that is the whole point. Nothing is overproduced, nothing is discounted into oblivion at the end of a season, and nothing ends up in landfill because we guessed the size curve wrong.
It also means we can hold a proper weight of cloth. A 400gsm loopback costs more than the thin stuff that ships well, and it is only affordable because we are not funding a warehouse full of it.
Quiet on purpose
The mark is small, usually tonal, often only visible when the light catches it. These are pieces you can wear to work. The joke is in the name, not shouted across the chest.
What we use
- Organic and recycled cotton jersey and loopback, 200–400gsm
- Lambswool and extra-fine merino for the knitwear
- Dry-waxed cotton and recycled wadding for outerwear
- Sublimated graphics on the football shirts, so nothing cracks or peels
Getting it wrong
If the size is not right, send it back unworn within thirty days with the tags on and we will cover the return. If you would rather we simply made the correct size, say so and we will start again. Details are on the returns page.
